(E) A transverse cryosection through the arch shows that edn1 is expressed in endoderm, mesoderm and ectoderm (arrows). (F) In Ednra1 morphants, edn1 is reduced in the pharyngeal ectoderm, although expression persists in the mesoderm (arrows).
