BMP Signaling through Smad5 Is Rapidly Inhibited by Tg(hsp70:chd) Induction
chordin mRNA expression prior to heat-shock at 4 hpf (A) is restricted to the dorsal organizer, and by 30 min following the start of heat-shock (B) expression is intense and ubiquitous in transgenic embryos (denoted by asterisk), and is restricted to the dorsal side in non-transgenic heat-shocked controls. Animal pole views of P-Smad5 staining prior to heat-shock at 4 hpf (C) and immediately after a 60-min heat-shock in non-transgenic (D) and transgenic (E) embryos.
