Developmental biology of erythroid commitment and differentiation. Our research is focused on studying genes important for erythropoiesis. Using zebrafish as a model organism, we perform genetic screens to isolate anemic mutants. The disrupted genes are identified by positional cloning strategies. The functions of the identified genes are studied in zebrafish and complementary systems (cultured cells, transgenic mice, yeast).
