The eif4e1c gene can fully compensate for complete loss of both canonical cap binding orthologs. (A) Table shows survival of Δeif4ea/Δeif4eb double mutants at Mendelian ratios. R is the critical value and the χ2 statistics are at the bottom. (B) Weights of adult siblings that are Δeif4ea or Δeif4eb. There is no significant difference (ANOVA p-value = 0.085). (C) Lengths of adult siblings that are Δeif4ea or Δeif4eb compared to wildtype. There is no significant difference (ANOVA p-value = 0.130).
