(A) Schematic of PCR-primers used to detect non-spliced reverse-transcribed mRNA product following block of splicing of spec1. (B) A specific spec1 non-spliced product was detectable by RT-PCR; this product was absent in MO:control-injected fish. (C,D) The spec1 splice-blocking MO reproduced the MHB-folding phenotype (C) observed with the spec1 ATG-blocking MO, although less apoptosis was visible (TUNEL; D).
