Expression of <italic>jnk1a/b</italic> transcripts in development.

(A-D) Expression patterns of the four jnk1 transcripts most highly expressed in the heart (arrows) at 24hfp (i, iii), 48hpf (ii, iv) from lateral (i, ii) and left oblique views (iii, iv). (A) jnk1a Ex7Lg is expressed in the cardiac cone (arrow) at 24hpf. At 48hpf strong expression is seen in the proximal part of the cardiac ventricle (v; black arrow) and weak expression is seen in some cells in the outer curvature of the atrium (a; white arrow). (B) At 24hpf jnk1b Ex8Sh expression in the cardiac cone is difficult to determine due to expression in overlapping head structures (i, iii), but is clearly seen in the outflow tract (arrow), and lower level in the ventricle, by 48hpf (ii-iv). (C) jnk1a Ex8Lg is expressed at low level in both the atrium and ventricle at 24 and 48 hpf. (D) jnk1b Ex7Sh is expressed in the region of the heart but is also expressed in surrounding tissues.
