Blood Flow and Hemodynamic Forces Regulate vMC Recruitment

(A) Genetic and pharmacological impairment of blood flow prevent vMC recruitment. Confocal images of partial z-projections of the trunk region (somite 8–14) of Tg(kdrl:egfp)s843;Tg(acta2:mCherry)uto5 embryos at 3 dpf (merged and single channels) after injection of tnnt2 morpholinos or 2,3-BDM treatment. Compared to controls, vMCs (arrows) are not recruited around the DA of embryos with impaired blood flow.
