Patterning of nascent dentary bone is similar between crocc2 genotypes. (A) A single optical section of a 5 dpf wild-type larvae (crocc2+/+) showing Alizarin Red labeled dentary (DNT, red) bone overlying an Alcian Blue labeled Meckel's cartilage (MC, in grayscale). (B) A projected confocal image of total Alizarin fluorescence in a wild-type DNT, as well as a representative image of a crocc2 mutant (crocc207/07) DNT. Scale bar = 50 ?m. While the DNT appears less mineralized in mutant animals compared to wild-types, the position and length of the bone is similar between genotypes. (D) Box plots demonstrate no significant difference (n.s.) in (1) the distance from the MC midline to the start of the distal edge of the DNT, (2) DNT length, and (3) the overall length of MC.
