Whole-mount in situ hybridization of heg1 cardiac expression. (A) At 30 hpf, heg1 is expressed throughout the entire endocardium. (B) Later, at 48 hpf, heg1 expression becomes restricted to high fluid shear stress regions of the endocardium including the atrioventricular canal (AVC). (C) The strong expression of heg1 at the AVC persists at 72 hpf. (D) Expression of heg1 was reduced in morphant embryos lacking blood-flow [troponin T type 2a (tnnt2a)] at 48 hpf.
