Cellular location of 3 ERs in the tilapia gonads at 180 dah by in situ hybridization. Specific signals of ERα were observed with stronger in the Leydig cells of the testis than the granulosa cells of the ovary (A and B). Stronger signals of ERβ-A were detected in the cytoplasm of oocytes in the ovary than in the Sertoli cells of the testis (C and D). In contrast, strong signals of ERβ-B were observed in the Sertoli cells of the testis, while very weak signals were detected in the cytoplasm of oocytes in the ovary (E and F). No signal was detected in the negative controls of all genes hybridized with sense probes (data not shown). Scale bar: A, B, D and F, 50 µm; C and E, 100 µm.
