Fig. 2.

Using model systems to understand and treat sarcopenia. Aging is associated with loss of muscle mass and function, which are highly heritable traits. Combining GWAS with both traditional (rodent and rabbit) and teleost fish (mainly zebrafish) models allows researchers to improve our understanding of the mechanisms of muscle wasting and to search for new therapies.
