Description
Predicted to enable fatty acid binding activity. Predicted to be involved in fatty acid transport. Predicted to be active in cytosol and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including axis; digestive system; gonad; immature eye; and nervous system. Orthologous to human RBP5 (retinol binding protein 5).

Note
Based on phylogenetic analysis and conserved gene synteny, zebrafish rbp1a is an ortholog of human RBP5 and not a duplicated gene that arose from WGD (ZDB-PUB-130604-27). Orthology data to human and mouse RBP1 associated with ZDB-PUB-041103-1 and ZDB-PUB-050823-6 have been removed.
