Mutants homozygous for the moonshine "mon" tg234 allele lack functional copies of the trim33 gene ( tif1-gamma) and typically die by 7-10 dpf. Adding a single copy of a BAC containing the entire WT trim33 locus results in this viable moonshine homozygous line, which was used in a genetic modifier screen for suppressor mutants that rescue the blood defect in mon embryos.
