C-J: Wild-type embryos treatment with the inhibitor of FGF signaling SU5402 commenced at the18-somite stage. Incubation for 1 hr (C,D), 6 hr (E,F), 12 hr (G,H), and 16 hr (I,J). The asterisk indicates midbrain-hindbrain boundary (MHB) position and arrowhead the tail tip. Expression of spry1 is inhibited after 1 hr of incubation in most of the domains, and after 16 hr of incubation there is no detectable expression of spry1.
