In March of 2012 this gene was found to be orthologous (both AA and synteny) to human and mouse RXFP2. The curator named this gene rxfp2b, in accordance with Zebrafish Nomenclature Guidelines. In the same month, Yegorov and Good (2012) named this gene rxpfa. Subsequently, two additional publications have maintained Yegorov and Good's nomenclature. In November of 2015 the names and gene symbols of both paralogs were changed to reflect a request filed with NCBI that was forwarded to the ZFIN nomenclature coordinator.
