Infection of zebrafish with Salmonella Typhimurium reduces its survival.

(A) Fluorescence images indicate establishment of infection (by tracking GFP expressing bacteria) by septic injury in the myotomes 6 hours after infection. mpi: minutes post infection, hpi: hours post infection.

(B) Survival curve of zebrafish (n>10) infected with Salmonella. UP: unpricked, UI: uninfected with sterile injury, Inf: infected. Log-rank test was done for estimating the significance of the survival curves.

All fishes recovered from anesthesia, temporary removal from water and injury.
