Growth hormone promotes cell proliferation in the zebrafish inner ear. A) BrdU-labeled saccules and B) utricles of control (C) and growth hormone-injected (gh) zebrafish. C) Numbers of BrdU-labeled cells increased significantly only in the utricle (P d 0.001; n = 6) following injection with growth hormone; however, a non-significant but noticeable increase in proliferation occurred in the saccule (P = 0.093; n = 6).
