STATEMENT OF RESEARCH INTERESTS
This laboratory focuses on systemically discovering the molecular and genetic mechanisms that govern bone development and bone remodeling, with the ultimate goal of the design of better therapeutics to treat bone diseases, such as osteoporosis, craniofacial anomalies and osteoarthritis, etc. The approaches employed in the laboratory include in vitro biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology and in vivo animal study, centering on skeleton biology of genetically manipulated mice. The topics we are interested in include:
1. Identifying novel regulators and pathways for osteoblast/osteoclast differentiation and function.
2. Studying the mechanisms of the coupling between bone formation and bone resorption.
3. Uncovering the pathological mechanisms of various skeletal disorders, such as osteoporosis, craniofacial anomalies and osteoarthritis, etc.
