Definition

Catalysis of the reaction: a jasmonate + an L-alpha-amino acid + ATP = a jasmonyl-L-amino acid + AMP + diphosphate + H+. In Arabidopsis, isoleucine is the principal amino acid that conjugates with JA to form JA (JA-Ile). Other amino acid can be conjugated with JA such as valine, leucine, and phenylalanine. (3)
