- A polysaccharide derivative that is the capsular polysaccharide of type Ib group B Streptococcus, consisting of saccharide chains involving α-D-NeuNAc-(2→3)-β-D-Galp, β-D-Galp-(1→3)-β-D-GlcpNAc, β-D-GlcpNAc-(1→3)-β-D-Galp, β-D-Galp-(1→4)-β-D-Glcp and β-D-Glcp-(1→4)-β-D-Galp linkages. The whole can be conjugated to a carrier protein (e.g. CRM197 and tetanus toxoid) randomly along the polysaccharide chain (cross-linked). An example structure is shown in the diagram.
