Experiment Conditions Description: chemical treatment by environment: cisplatin, chemical treatment by environment: metronidazole
chemical treatment by environment: cisplatin
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000238]
Name: cisplatin
Synonyms: (SP-4-2)-diamminedichloridoplatinum, (SP-4-2)-diamminedichloroplatinum, [PtCl2(NH3)2], Briplatin, CDDP, cis-[PtCl2(NH3)2], cis-DDP, cis-diamminedichloridoplatinum(II), cis-diamminedichloroplatinum, cis-diamminedichloroplatinum(II), cis-diammineplatinum(II) dichloride, cis-dichlorodiammineplatinum(II), cis-platin, Cismaplat, Cisplatin, cisplatine, cisplatino, cisplatinum, Lederplatin, Neoplatin, Peyrone's chloride, Peyrone's salt, Platamine, Platinex, Platinol, Randa
Definition: A diamminedichloroplatinum compound in which the two ammine ligands and two chloro ligands are oriented in a cis planar configuration around the central platinum ion. An anticancer drug that interacts with, and forms cross-links between, DNA and proteins, it is used as a neoplasm inhibitor to treat solid tumours, primarily of the testis and ovary. Commonly but incorrectly described as an alkylating agent due to its mechanism of action (but it lacks alkyl groups).

chemical treatment by environment: metronidazole
Name: chemical treatment by environment
Synonyms:
Definition: Chemical treatment condition in which the chemical is introduced through the environment. For zebrafish this is the tank water.
Ontology: Zebrafish Environment Condition Ontology [ZECO:0000238]
Name: metronidazole
Synonyms: 1-(2-hydroxy-1-ethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(beta-ethylol)-2-methyl-5-nitro-3-azapyrrole, 1-(beta-hydroxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 1-(beta-oxyethyl)-2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole, 2-(2-methyl-5-nitro-1H-imidazol-1-yl)ethanol, 2-methyl-1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-5-nitroimidazole, 2-methyl-3-(2-hydroxyethyl)-4-nitroimidazole, 2-methyl-5-nitroimidazole-1-ethanol, metronidazol, metronidazole, metronidazolum
Definition: A member of the class of imidazoles substituted at C-1, -2 and -5 with 2-hydroxyethyl, nitro and methyl groups respectively. It has activity against anaerobic bacteria and protozoa, and has a radiosensitising effect on hypoxic tumour cells. It may be given by mouth in tablets, or as the benzoate in an oral suspension. The hydrochloride salt can be used in intravenous infusions. Metronidazole is a prodrug and is selective for anaerobic bacteria due to their ability to intracellularly reduce the nitro group of metronidazole to give nitroso-containing intermediates. These can covalently bind to DNA, disrupting its helical structure, inducing DNA strand breaks and inhibiting bacterial nucleic acid synthesis, ultimately resulting in bacterial cell death.
