Description
Predicted to have non-membrane spanning protein tyrosine kinase activity and signaling receptor binding activity. Predicted to be involved in several processes, including peptidyl-tyrosine autophosphorylation; regulation of cell population proliferation; and transmembrane receptor protein tyrosine kinase signaling pathway. Predicted to localize to extrinsic component of cytoplasmic side of plasma membrane. Orthologous to human TNK1 (tyrosine kinase non receptor 1).

Note
Based on amino acid similarity, Woods, et al. (2005. Genome Res. 15:1307-1314.) report this gene to be the ortholog of human TNK2. Subsequent analysis suggests it is the ortholog of human TNK1 and mouse Tnk1 based on amino acid similarity and conserved synteny.
