Classification and domain organisation of PITP proteins found in mammals and zebrafish. PITP proteins are classified as Class I and II. Class I PITPs bind PI and PC whilst Class II PITPs bind PI and PA. The transcriptional variants of PITPβ and PITPNC1 are indicated. In zebrafish, Pitpnc1 is expressed from two separate genes present on different chromosomes.

Binding partners of PITPNC1. The PITP domain circled in red can bind to the adaptor protein, ATRAP and to HSC70. The C-terminal extension contains the residues, Ser274 and Ser299 which bind to 14-3-3 proteins when phosphorylated. The binding site of Rab1B is not known but it binds more strongly to Pitpnc1 when the phospho-sites on the C-terminus are mutated.
