Statement of Research Interest
The primary interests of the laboratory involve xenobiotic-inducible genes, their mechanism(s) of regulation, and their function in normal cellular physiology. Current emphasis is on 1) the developmental effects of ethanol, persistent chemical pollutants like dioxin and mercury, and neurotoxic pesticides; 2) receptor-dependent interactions with DNA response elements (especially those that respond to metals, aromatic hydrocarbons, and oxidative stress)and their role in transcriptome responses; and 3) identification of genes that influence sensitivity and resistance to the effects of environmental chemicals.
