Figure 3.

Phytanoyl-CoA dioxygenase family demethylation activity was demonstrated by complementation of the uridine/cytidine auxotrophic E. coli HMS174(DE3) ΔpyrF strain after 1 week of growth at room temperature. Tested dioxygenases were expressed from either pET-21 or pLATE31 vectors. The abbreviated names of the oxygenases are indicated above the respective colonies. M9 medium was supplemented with 10 mg/l 2′-O-methyluridine.
