Fig. 6 A model summarizing the two suggested regulatory axes controlling fish reproduction. The satiety-regulated cholecystokinin (CCK) neurons activate follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) cells. luteinizing hormone (LH) cells are directly regulated by gonadotropin-releasing hormone GnRH neurons that are gated by CCK, photoperiod, temperature, and behaviour, eventually leading to final maturation and ovulation.
