Fig. 3 Effect of NBTI structural optimizations on MIC values of different bacterial strains. The substitution of chlorine with bromine and additional fluorination of the phenyl RHS moiety increases the strength of symmetrical bifurcated halogen bonds and lowering the MIC values in all tested bacterial species (Kolarič et al., 2021; Kokot et al., 2021). Linker optimization does not have a big huge impact on MIC values, but drastically diminishes hERG inhibition (Kokot et al., 2022).
