Description
Predicted to have amino acid transmembrane transporter activity. Predicted to be involved in amino acid transmembrane transport. Predicted to localize to integral component of plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alar plate midbrain region; margin; pleuroperitoneal region; segmental plate; and tail bud. Orthologous to human SLC38A5 (solute carrier family 38 member 5).

Note
Woods, et al (2005. Genome Res. 15:1307-1314) reported this gene as slc38a3 and the ortholog of human SLC38A3 based on amino acid similarity. Subsequent analysis suggests this gene is an ortholog of human SLC38A5 and mouse Slc38a5 based on amino acid similarity and conserved location.
