- Description
- Enables thymidylate synthase activity. Acts upstream of or within dTMP biosynthetic process and retina development in camera-type eye. Predicted to be active in cytosol and mitochondrion. Is expressed in several structures, including anterior neural tube; blood; nervous system; optic vesicle; and ventral mesoderm. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including abdominal aortic aneurysm; digenic dyskeratosis congenita; gastrointestinal system cancer (multiple); hematologic cancer (multiple); and rheumatoid arthritis. Orthologous to human TYMS (thymidylate synthetase).
