Characterization of camk2g1 mutant zebrafish. Electropherograms of exon2 in wild type and camk2g1 “TALEN” mutant embryos show a loss of 8 nts from wild type (−8) and gain of 6 nts in camk2g1 mutants (+6) leading to a premature stop codon shown for the predicted amino acid sequence from the start codon (A). Camk2g1 mutants appear phenotypically normal at 22 s (B, C), 48hpf (D, E) and 4dpf (F, G). CaMKII specific activity (nmoles/min/mg) is reduced by 25–30% at 48hpf and 72hpf in camk2g1 mutants (H).
