Ca2+ imaging. Related to Figures 1 and 2. (A) GCaMP5 fluorescence in four optical planes through the olfactory bulb, separated by 20 ?m in z. Planes were imaged near-simultaneously at an effective volume rate of 7.5 Hz using a volumetric scanning method based on remote focusing (Methods). For presentation purposes only, images were pre-processed using contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization (Matlab ?adapthisteq? function, Rayleigh distribution with Numtiles = [24 24] and nbins = 1024) followed by spatial smoothing (2D Gaussian window, ? = 0.5 pixels).
