Histopathological changes in liver sections of zebrafish two days after L. hongkongensis infection by immersion following dermal abrasion. (A) Necrosis of hepatocytes and infiltration of inflammatory cells around the central vein. (B) Structural disorder of hepatic lobules with detachment of several groups of hepatocytes; necrosis and apoptosis of hepatocytes and dilatation of hepatic sinusoid with abundant inflammatory cells. (C) Hydropic degeneration with swollen and edematous hepatocytes.
