Statement of Research Interest
The laboratory studies the molecular control of hematopoiesis, particularly granulopoiesis, both under normal physiological conditions and in malignancy. Particular projects focus on signalling from the cytokine receptors (particularly the G-CSF receptor), the structure/function of the G-CSF ligand-receptor interaction, and the role of endogenous cytokine production in the leukaemic phenotype. Our interest in granulopoiesis now includes the use of zebrafish as a reagent for genetic, molecular and cellular studies. Based on our characterisation of adult and embryonic myelopoiesis in zebrafish, we are undertaking screens for mutants with developmental myeloid failure.
