STATEMENT OF RESEARCH INTERESTS
The vertebrate eye forms through the coordination of two major events: the progressive regionalization of the eye primordium into retina, pigmented epithelium and optic nerve, and the choreographed reorganization of eye cells to give rise to the optic cups. Since 1997 in the Instituto Cajal and from 2011 in the CBMSO, our group has contributed to elucidate the genetic cascade controlling eye specification and differentiation. Our experimental approach is multidisciplinary and involves the use of biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, experimental embryology, transgenesis and gain/loss-of function studies, applied to mouse, chick and teleost fishes. For more information on our current research, see http://web4.cbm.uam.es/joomla-rl/index.php/es/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=408
