Definition
The leaflet of the trans-Golgi cisternae membrane that faces the cytoplasm, including any protein embedded in, attached to, or peripherally associated with it. This is the site where vesicle formation, and cargo sorting towards post-Golgi destinations such as endosomes, lysosomes and the plasma membrane occur. (3)
