Definition
The sodium salt of cephapirin. A first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic, it is effective against gram-negative and gram-positive organisms. Being more resistant to β-lactamases than penicillins, it is effective agains most staphylococci, though not methicillin-resistant staphylococci.
