Definition
A racemate consisting of equal amounts of (R,R)- and (S,S)-tramadol hydrochloride. A centrally acting synthetic opioid analgesic, used to treat moderately severe pain. The (R,R)-enantiomer exhibits ten-fold higher analgesic potency than the (S,S)-enantiomer.
