Definition
An amino-acid residue that is formed when the carboxy group of any amino acid (where R is the side chain) undergoes a cyclodehydration reaction with a neighboring L-cysteine amino acid in a protein, resulting in the formation of a 2-thiazoline ring which is dehydrogenated to the corresponding 1,3-thiazole moiety.
