Definition

A poly(ethylene glycol) derivative that is methoxypoly(ethylene glycol) in which the terminal hydroxy group has been converted to the corresponding 2-maleimidoethyl ether. Used particularly for the mPEGylation of free thiol groups in cysteine residues of proteins.
