BIOGRAPHY AND RESEARCH INTERESTS
Fish endocrinology with an emphasis on the thyroid axis and its effects on development and growth.
We are interested in understanding the development of endocrine networks in fish and how early-life experiences can influence the function of these networks in the adult fish.

Specific projects include:

1. Cell-cell communication and its control of migration of GnRH neurons.

2. Thyroid axis function during larval development of fish.

3. Epigenetic programming of the thyroid axis through early-life experiences.

4. Central control (hypothalamus, pituitary) of the thyroid axis in fish.

5. Thyroid control of fish growth.

Our main methods include molecular biology, a variety of physiologcal methods, the generation and use of transgenic fish (tilapia and zebrafish) and live imaging.
