Biography and Research Interest
Dr. Janz's research generally involves investigating interactions between physiological control and environmental alteration of developmental and reproductive processes in vertebrates, particularly fishes. The goal of his research is to investigate relationships between biological responses at the molecular and cellular levels with those occurring at the organ, organism and population levels in animals exposed to environmental stressors. This is achieved by combining physiological, cell biological, pharmacological and molecular biological approaches in the laboratory with ecological approaches in the field. Recent work has focused on investigating biochemical mechanisms of action of toxicants on ovarian and testicular physiology using fish as an experimental model.
