Statement of Research Interest
Our work integrates molecular genetics, in vivo cell biology, and quantitative image analysis to follow stem and progenitor cell behaviors in the growing and developing visual system so that we can:
1) identify cues that specify and maintain stem cells in a growing/developing tissue, including the study of how retinal input influences brain growth
2) reveal how changes in cell shape, size, and orientation influence neural progenitor cell differentiation
3) learn how specific molecular pathways integrate to control the balance of proliferation and differentiation.
