FIGURE 7 Effect of 6-gingerol on threshold for the myoclonic twitches (A), generalized clonus (B) and forelimb tonus (C) in the iv. PTZ test in mice. 6-gingerol (10–30mg/kg) and VPA (150 mg/kg, as a positive control) were administered ip. 15 and 30 min before the test, respectively. The negative control group was treated with 1% Tween solution in saline. Experimental groups consisted of 12–18 mice. Data on myoclonic twitches (A) and forelimb tonus seizures (C) are presented as mean dose of PTZ (in mg/kg) that provoke the respective kind of seizures + SEM and were analysed using one-way ANOVA with Dunnett’s post hoc (myoclonic twitch, F(4, 72) = 4.569, p = 0.0024; forelimb tonus, F(4, 37) = 2.007, p = 0.1024). Data on generalized clonic seizures are presented as median + 95% conficence limits and were analysed using Kruskal–Wallis test followed with Dunn’s post hoc test (generalized clonus, KW = 19.97, p = 0.0005). *p ≤ 0.05 and **p ≤ 0.01.
