The diagram illustrates the iterative clustering process for eight neurons. In each iteration, neurons are paired based on maximum correlation, with their activities combined through summation and normalized to maintain unit mean for nonzero values. Each neuron can only be paired once per iteration, ensuring all neurons are grouped by the iteration’s end.
