Fig. 5 Summary of the results of the assessment of innate immune cell migration to neomycin-injured neuromasts in 4 dpf embryo-larvae exposed to synthetic glucocorticoids. Data for neutrophil migration are shown in the top panel of 4 graphs and for macrophages in the lower panel of 4 graphs. In each case, the average number of immune cells per neuromast are shown, at a series of time points after the initiation of damage by neomycin in embryo-larvae exposed to A) BDP; B) BUD; C) FLUT; and D) PRED for 4 days. The various control groups used were: NNWC = No neomycin water control to show background immune cell activity in the absence of neuromast injury; DWC = Dilution water control and SC = Solvent control both of which were treated with neomycin but no GC. All data are shown as the mean ± SEM, ndouble bond16 larvae per treatment unless stated in the legend. Statistical analysis of data was conducted using a 2-way ANOVA followed by Dunnett's multiple comparison test (compared against the SC). Statistically significant values are reported by * (P < 0.05), ** (P < 0.01), *** (P < 0.001) and **** (P < 0.0001).
