fhl2b is upregulated and protects EOMs from muscular dystrophy conditions. dmd−/− larvae overexpressing fhl2b survive for extended amounts of time due to improved muscle integrity with fewer myofiber detachments and breaks, improved axon and NMJ stability, and accelerated myofiber regeneration.
