Angiogenic contributions were speculated based on the severity and penetrance of observed phenotypes and also on the levels of genetic interactions detected to cause phenotypes. This comparative result reveals CNS region-specific requirements for Vegfs-dependent angiogenesis and identifies an unexpected role for Vegfc/d in fenestrated brain vessel formation.
