sox1a is not expressed in the pineal complex of bsx mutants at 30 hpf.
Premigratory parapineal cells can be labelled in wildtype embryos (n = 11/11) at 30 hpf by in situ hybridization using sox1a mRNA probe. In bsx mutant embryos no sox1a expression can be detected in the pineal complex at 30 hpf (n = 11/11).
