Fig. 1 Muscle degeneration in the dystrophic mutants softm272a, cafteg15a and sapta222a. Birefringence images comparing the loss of striated muscle in mutant embryos at 72 hpf, viewed through a polarising filter as dark patches on the trunk. The distribution and severity of muscle lesions in sof are broadly similar to caf and sap, while wild-type embryos (WT) display no loss of birefringency.
