Genetically encoded voltage indicator Ace2N is a mutation of Acetabularia acetabulum rhodopsin that inactivates the proton pump When fused with a fluorescent protein to enable voltage-sensitive fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). Together with protein trafficking signals, the fusions provide high FRET efficiency and minimal protein aggregation in live neurons
